20.10 announced as released but only the beta is available

Ian Bruntlett
Hi,

The subject line pretty much says it all....

Went to http://releases.ubuntu.com/groovy/ and could only find the beta...

HTH,

Ian

... as every 6 months (repeating that twice a year since 15 years ...
:) )

once https://ubuntu.com/ shows the announcement or the
https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-announce
mailing list shows it, it is out ...

not before ... and even if you see something else than beta on
releases.ubuntu.com it does not mean it is out before the announcement
hits the lists and the website (in fact downloading from there prior to
announcement will delay the release because it slows down the mirroring
process) only once all images went through the whole QA proecess and
all mirrors have been propagated with the release images the
announcement will go out...

currently all images are being re-spun due to a last minute issue found
with alsa, once these are QAed and mirrored to all download locations,
the release will be announced ... just be patient ;)

also, if you do not want to wait alone, there is the #ubuntu-release-
party IRC channel on freenode.net where people hang out waiting ...

ciao

Announced where?  I haven't seen or heard anything from Canonical. If
it's from anyone else, it's bogus.

Extended to raspberry pi is one thing. Then we have Microsoft edge for Linux in, it seems.

Gonna try soon :)

The very first line says in large, friendly letters:

Ubuntu 20.10 (Groovy Gorilla) Final Beta released

It is not out yet, folks. Patience!

At 14:31, I received an email with the subject heading "Ubuntu 20.10 is here", from "[hidden email] via mktomail.com"

Which I figure is fairly official...

BW,

Just a suggestion - when citing a time, including the UTC
increment/decrement (e.g., here is "WST"; UTC+0800), makes a cited
time, more informative.

So, here, now, is about 0151 WST (UTC+0800).

Oops, sorry. I rarely have to tell the time to anyone, let alone people in other timezones.

The timezone that I'm in is BST (British Summer Time).

And I can now confirm I have downloaded ubuntu-20.10-desktop-amd64.iso and verified its checksum.

HTH,

Ian
