CD/DVD-Drive not found, problem with SCSI

Volker Wysk
Hi!

I've set up my system some month ago, and now there is no more
CD/DVD/DB-drive recognized any longer!

I don't have /dev/cdrom, /dev/dvd or /dev/sr0.

There's also no "cdrom" in /etc/fstab.

Wodim says this:

$ wodim --devices
wodim: No such file or directory.
Cannot open SCSI driver!

"lsblk" doesn not list "sr0".

Any ideas?

Volker

May you check what does "dmesg" say?

regards

Most likely either the connector has dropped out or is loose, the cable is faulty, or the device is broken.

You're right! The connector was loose.

Thank you,
Volker

*Exactly* what sort of drive do you have: IDE (PATA), SATA, USB, something
else?

Is this a desktop or laptop?

If a laptop, is the drive removable -- many *laptop* optical drives are
removable and can be replaced with either an additional hard drive or a second
battery or even a floppy drive?  Often these removable work themselves
loose...

The problem has already been solved, with the help of Colin Law. See my
mail of Sun, 25 Aug 2019 11:26:33 +0200. It was a loose connector.

Thanks anyway,
Volker
