Call for testing: Xenial langpack updates IV

Gunnar Hjalmarsson
Hello translators!

In a few weeks the last Xenial point release, 16.04.5, will be made
available to download. Before that, let's return to the Xenial
translations once again and take this opportunity to improve the state
of the translations provided via Ubuntu's language packs.

We now start the fourth langpack update cycle for Xenial. The names of
the langpacks which have been copied to xenial-proposed are:

   language-pack-XX
   language-pack-gnome-XX

where 'XX' is the language code.

The steps involved are described at this wiki page:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Translations/LanguagePackUpdatesQA

Basically the translators teams are asked to

* install the updated langpacks from xenial-proposed
* perform the tests according to the wiki page
* add the test result for respective language to the Xenial table on
   the wiki page

The row for Swedish has already been inserted; just add your language in
the same manner.

Langpacks which have been reported as successfully tested by 25th of
July 14:00 UTC will be copied to xenial-updates, and with that made
available to all users.

This is the last coordinated translation update for Xenial. If a need
arises for further updates of a particular language, this guidance applies:

Re: Call for testing: Xenial langpack updates IV

I started the test for Swedish, but found that something is very wrong.
Many .mo files, which ought to be present in the language-pack-gnome-sv
package, are absent, resulting in an untranslated desktop to a large
extent. Please see the attached file for a simple comparison between the
package in xenial-updates and the one in xenial-proposed.

Can't tell if all languages are affected by this, but from a quick
glance at the French equivalent package, it looks like it's not only
Swedish.

Since the -base packages have not been updated, there must not be any
occurrences of "Only in language-pack-gnome-sv_16.04+20171210..." in the
diff, but there are quite a few of those.

@Łukasz: Please check out what happened.

To everybody else: It's probably best to wait with testing for now.

Re: Call for testing: Xenial langpack updates IV

Lukasz Zemczak
That doesn't sound good at all. The packages that have been published
to -proposed have been copied from the langpack PPA, so I'd expect
those to have sane contents (sanity tested by translators) - but maybe
there's actually no one using those in reality. I'll look into this
tomorrow. Thanks for the heads up!

Cheers,
