What is Phygital?
Phygital is a project of Interreg V 2014 - 2020 BalkanMed, funded by the European Union and includes actions in Greece, Albania and Cyprus.
As part of the project, makerspaces - one in each country - were created to work with the local communities.
In Cyprus, the project's activities will focus on social art practices exploring open technology and design, and seek to support and enhance, at the local level, the potential for innovation and take advantage of the opportunities created through a decentralized mode of production. The Cyprus annex to the project (housed in the Multipurpose Center of Lakatamia) examines the key principles related to open technology, freedom of software-hardware and “bottom up” collaborative structures to explore ways in which they can be used through the methodology of social art and design practices to meet the needs of the local community.
