Good day to you too. According to: http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/Conexant_HSF_modem_drivers#The_Linuxant_hsf_driver you have to use OEM driver from Dell to have fax support for your modem or to buy Linuxant driver. Instructions for setting up Dell OEM version you can find here: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/DialupModemHowto/Conexant This is in case you don't use any of those driver already, of course. > > Softwares Gfax, hylafax ,efax-gtk are installed. I use efax-gtk and almost everything about settings and using it is on and from this page: https://help.ubuntu.com/8.04/printing/C/faxing.html (don't miss a link to the community documentation) and of course: "man efax-gtk" and help menu from within the application. Just remember that you have to have efax-gtk running to print from any document to a fax virtual printer (that is how you send faxes from documents). In case of efax-gtk: File-> Received faxes -> select and open with evince (or other postscript viewer, as you may set it in File -> Settings -> View tab) --> save as .ps file or print it to the pdf. To print/convert to pdf without opening a fax: File -> Setting -> Print tab -> Print program -> lpr -P yorpdfprinter Note: this is in Hardy, where I use fax and above string is "lpr -P PDF". With this setting you can also use "print_fax" script to automatically convert received faxes to pdf files. (Receive tab in Settings dialogue). See efax-gtk documentation for more info. Hope it helps. Regards -- ubuntu-users mailing list [hidden email] Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-users |

Good day everyone ; Thanks a lot for your attentions ; Some question : Driver is latest hsfmodem driver + free & full-speed Dell binaries ,And id built in this way for ubuntu 9.04,and device link is /dev/ttySHSF0 1-What should be set in serial device in efax-gtk setting ? /dev/ttySHSF0 ? or just ttySHSF0 ?or any thing esle ? 2-Should any other parameters be changes in efax-gtk setting except above serial device ? 3-For using file in fax to send box ,what formats can file be ? 4-Is it better to use file or socket for fax to send box ? 5-while going these steps ,in ubuntu 9.04 ,in step " click on queue and click forward" what should be done ?there is just 3 choice for PPD selection . I'm guessing here as I use serial modem, but I think you should try ttySHF0 (without path) first or maybe just modem, according to [1] > 2-Should any other parameters be changes in efax-gtk setting except > above serial device ? In my experience no, but I use serial modem. > 3-For using file in fax to send box ,what formats can file be ? postscript (.ps) > 4-Is it better to use file or socket for fax to send box ? If you want to print from any file (oowriter, for example) you are better with socket. As mentioned in other post, you have to have efax-gtk running for that. You can change input to "file" within main efax-gtk window temporally, if you need to. > 5-while going these steps > <http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=1406788&postcount=6>,in ubuntu > 9.04 ,in step " click on queue and click forward" what should be done > ?there is just 3 choice for PPD selection. Instructions you are referring to are a little bit old (2006), so instead of HP JetDirect try -> Generic and from the next dialogue-> Model: Raw Queue -> Drivers: Generic Raw Queue. Anyhow, in the printer settings, you have to have: URI address: socket://localhost:9900 Manufacturer and Model: Local Raw Printer and that is it. Note: this is in Hardy, but I think in Jaunty it shouldn't be much different.
