I like gThumb viewer. Doesn't have much in the way of touching up
pictures, but a good file viewer and slideshow bit.

Try:

apt-cache search image viewer

Among the ones you will get, try qiv and xli.

You may also want to check gqview, kuickshow, kview, paul, showimg,
eog, ida, gthumb, possibly also 'display' from ImageMagick.

Nautilus can display images as thumbnails. Check out options
for large thumbnails, very useful.

Hope it helps

Thank you.

I hoped that Nautilus has an integrated image viewer as slideshow.
Konqueror does it.

Hope it will be in a next version of Gnome...

Simple solution if you like Konqueror:

Install the KDE Libraries and Konqueror

It will run under gnome quite happily if the proper libs are installed
-- do it from synaptic and you should get all you need without arguments
