Raring translation updates?

Игорь Зубарев
Hello!

I don't see any translation updates for raring since release.
Is this a bug?

Hi!

No, it's not a bug. There will be no language pack updates for non-LTS
releases (at least for now).

Best regards,
Yuri

Hi, Yuri

It is very sad because I found some translation errors in raring after release.
I fixed them and waited for update:(

It's a matter on (wo)manpower, essentially. The know-how can be transferred from the relevant persons if we ask. If anyone is willing to engage on this and do the coordination, with no obligation of result, we will all strive to help.

I'm happy to pick up the task.
I briefly spoke with David last week during the CC meeting, and I need
to resume that discussion (also with Daniel).

Ciao.

Hi,
Since I agree with Igor that it is sad we are unable to make corrections in non-LTS versions because there are no updates, I would like to offer my help. I have no idea how it works, but if someone who did it in the past can guide me, I am willing to try.

RE: Raring translation updates?

Doug Smythies
On this subject, I can only speak to the Ubuntu
Serverguide, the Ubuntu Desktop docs, and what
is published on help.ubuntu.com

The serverguide is not a released package, and therefore
is not bound by any need to do any SRU (Stable Release Update)
procedure. If significant translation has been done, and someone
wants a cycle done (a .po import and regeneration of the master
files), then I will do it.

By the way, we are also debating publishing all languages of the
Serverguide on help.ubuntu.com, just like the desktop docs does now.
I hope to set up a preliminary version for 13.10 within the next few
months.

The desktop docs are a released package, and therefore
is supposed to be covered by SRU procedure. We (O.K. I) have
been debating that this makes no sense for what is published
on help.ubuntu.com. In fact we already made a change to the
footnote that is not in the packaged version. So again, if
significant translation work has been done, and someone
wants a cycle done (a .po import and regeneration of the master
files), including update of help.ubuntu.com, then I will do it.
(well, "try" to do it. The debate is ongoing, and I'm not sure all
stakeholders on on-board yet.)
