Hi Phill,
I've had a small chat with Lyz on IRC, but the docs team needs to make a decision on this. I'm not going to make this decision alone after only just being submitted to the team. As far as I'm concerned it should be moved to https://help.ubuntu.com/community/LucidLynx/GraphicalInstall and be link to it from it's parent page. I also think instead of naming this one "Graphical Install" (which fits the bill, true) "Ubiquity" as everyone I know knows that it is called Ubiquity. But that is just a personal issue. I've taken the liberty to add both the docs team as Kate in this message string to hopefully speed-up the process of getting a decision made. Hello Chris, Phill and Elizabeth,
Glad you reached out about this.... In Q-Cycle their will be a move towards a new platform for help.u.c which means migration of all content on the entire domain not just /community The idea behind the transition is to make it much easier to maintain the documentation for Ubuntu and to also allow improved usability and features. So at this point it might not be in the best interest of everyone to make any changes that might later have to be re-done on the new platform. But I will discuss this with Jeremy Bicha and others as more is planned for this transition and we get a clearer plan in place. Hi Chris,
Thanks for your assistance on this one. I'm still on my training course, so my free time is limited. hopefully there will be a final decision made about the naming convention for older releases made by the time UDS-Q is finished. As you state, it is important that we are using the same format. My suggestion was to temporarily copy the 'older' one over to a child page so that they can get the parent updated with 12.04 whilst not losing the previous work, until the new format of naming is finalised. If they wish to do a rename of the page, then I think we have enough practice of renaming and setting up a divert to avoid the dreaded 404 :) Which is what I was going to do with that <page-name>_10.04 one for them once the new naming convention is finalised. Regards, Phill. Well, I guess my immediate question then is, what do we do about /community/GraphicalInstall and other major pages that we'd like to clean up now? Just edit them to replace 10.04 info with 12.04 info? Or copy it to some yet-to-be-determined /community/Lucid/GraphicalInstall or whatever page and then add the 12.04 info? Or do nothing and wait until next cycle to update these docs when the new platform is in place? Thanks everyone. -- Elizabeth Krumbach // Lyz // pleia2 http://www.princessleia.com -- ubuntu-doc mailing list [hidden email] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-doc |

What an option is is to make a note what the current revision is and start updating. This can be checked back if it was forgotten but is much easier if you make it a comment on the page itself. Then when the new system is up we can pull back the version that it is now and "back it up" to it's new home. Just a thought and to get things moving again.
