Some troubles with kubuntu

Roman Makurin
Hi All
I`m new in ubuntu world, previously I was gentoo user about 3 last years.
When I install kubuntu and do some setup I`ve found some realy annoying
issues:
1) "administrator mode" in kcontrol  doen`t work, It askes my a pass, then
shows me loading screen and goes to the kcontrol index page
Here`s part of my sudoers:
Host_Alias      LOCAL = c3po
User_Alias      ADM = drolyk
ADM LOCAL = (ALL) ALL
2) usplash breaks my fonts in text-mode(console without X). I`m russian and I
want my console russian too. I can solve this only by disabling usplash :)
3) lirc(0.7.0.1) packages in ubuntu repository completely broken(impossible to
build lirc kernel modules). I`ve found a lot of quistions about it on ubuntu
forums. But from debian unstable lirc(0.7.1pre2) works fine. Why not upload
these packages to ubuntu ?
4) smb4k doesn`t configured well, after install it needs some setup
in sudoers file, eg:
----
Host_Alias LOCAL = hosts_coma_list
User_Alias SMB4K_USERS = users_coma_list
Cmnd_Alias SMB4K_CMNDS = /usr/bin/smb4k_kill, /usr/bin/smb4k_mount, \
                                                                        /usr/bin/smb4k_umount
SMB4K_USERS LOCAL = NOPASSWD: SMB4K_CMNDS
----
I think such strings must be in dpkg preinstall scripts or something else :)

====

Right now I want to ask how can I solve my issue with kcontrol :)

10nx

P.S.: Sory for my BAAAAAAD english :)

Recently fixed in breezy-updates.

Do you know if this happen in ubuntu too? (GDM/KDM may have an effect
here I'm not sure.)

Please ensure there's a bug report for this.

Likewise.

I'll try and look into those.

Please tell us what version you're running.  It's rather important.

This is an old bug, but afaik its been fixed for 4 or 5 months.  It's
certainly not a problem for me.

It's pretty good, really.

I upgrade 5.04 to 5.10. I don`t use 5.04 I just install it and do dist-upgrade

No I don`t know, but I think there is no difference ubuntu or kubuntu. I think
it is usplash isuue. If I disable usplash I can type russian chars in console
(boot->KDM->login to KDE->Ctrl+Alt+F1). With usplash enabled I`ve got crapy
symbols instead.

================

I know that 2.6.x has modules with .ko extension but there I`ve got .o like in
2.4. I don`t know what is problem but with lirc packages from debian unstable
everything works fine, however it is outdated too.

it stopped being a problem for me very early in Breezy's existence.  I
assumed it was fixed.

So you must include breezy-updates, as well as breezy, in
your /etc/apt/sources.list to pick up the latest fix that Jonathan
mentioned:

deb http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu breezy-updates main restricted

(with universe and multiverse being optional)
