Suspend2 for Ubuntu

[Bug 8586] swsusp fails after
automatic kernel upgrade

I would also like to see Suspend2 in the next Ubuntu release.  Nigel
Cunningham told me that he will soon be moving to using 'git' to
maintain sources, and that Suspend2 should go into the -mm kernels
around the same time.  With any luck and enough interest on the part of
the people who are actually doing the work, it will be there.  I lack
both the skill and the time to do that extra work for them, or I would.

Have you seen:

It's too far along in the dapper release cycle to start moving to this
very invasive system. Even if it weren't, I'd be against it since we'd
be making a huge change to the kernel and taking on all the problems
that come with it (pretty much any bugs we encountered would be ignored
by upstream kernel maintainers because of it).

Hopefully swsusp gets into upstream kernel by 2.6.17, since that's what
we'll probably be using for dapper+1.
