Two bugs with 20.04

Anthony Stevens
I've run into a couple of bugs while testing 20.04 on my laptop.

KDE Plasma 5.18.3
KDE Framework 5.68.0
Qt Version 5.12.5
Kernel Version 5.4.0-21-Generic
64 bit

Dell Insipron 17
4x AMD Ryzen 2 2200U with Radeon Vega Mobile Gfx
7.5Gb RAM

Bug #1: Cannot restart
If I try to restart from either the menu or right-click, the system will take an extra few seconds after black screen, then go to a dell memory test.
If I let it finish the memory test or if I abort the memory test, it asks for bootable media.
If I power off and reboot, it always starts normally.

Bug #2: VLC won't load 2nd item
If I watch any video (mp4, mkv, avi) using VLC, then close that video, it won't load another video.
I load KSysGuard and it shows VLC still running, with no content.
If I "kill" VLC and click on another video, it loads and runs properly.

Note: I installed this from an ISO I downloaded about a month ago, but I've not seen any other reports of similar bugs.

Anyone else seen this?

Overall, I really like 20.04 and am looking forward to building a new system when it is released.

Cody Smith-2
You'll want to report those on Launchpad, a mailing list will result in most likely nothing being done about hugs reported here.

Re: Two bugs with 20.04

Anthony Stevens
Thanks, Cody.
I've looked at launchpad and haven't figured out how to actually use it yet.
I'll give it another go, now.
The last time I worked on a software QA team was late 90s, so thought I'd try here, first.
Stay safe out there!

Re: Two bugs with 20.04

Dale Trombley
I get that too. Been looking for a big to latch onto, so far I haven't found one. When you file a bug link it here and I'll add a "me too".
Alternatively I can file and you as the"me too". Just let me know.

It took me a few minutes, but finally sorted it out (I think).

Thank you for your contribution! Please everyone who has encountered one or both of these bugs, mark at the top (the little pencil) "This affects me too". And please everyone who is testing 20.04 mark your test in one of the test cases on the qatracker. See https://kubuntu.org/news/testing-for-the-beta-help-needed/ for more information.

If you find new bugs, use `ubuntu-bug packagename` in the terminal to report it, no tick marks, and using the actual packagename. That makes bug-reporting really easy!

Thanks again,

Valorie
