Did you send a ping on it ?

$ ping ubuntuforums.org/
ping: unknown host ubuntuforums.org/
$

Well, be it with firefox, with elinks or ping, the server is down.
All you can do is wait.
Greetings, Joyce Markoll.

ehhh?

Something is wrong!
Your resolver is most likely broken.

can you do this:

kvi@nc6220kvi:~$ host ubuntuforums.org
ubuntuforums.org has address 64.21.33.9
ubuntuforums.org mail is handled by 10 mail.ubuntuforums.org.
kvi@nc6220kvi:~$ ping -c 4 64.21.33.9

Then it might come from... I don't know. I still can't get there, even
with elinks that works fine. (And has no squid proxy set).
The Internet Company ? other sites are easily reachable.

~$ host ubuntuforums.org

craig@TravelMate:~$ ping -c 4 64.21.33.9

How do I fix my resolver? What is my resolver?  Why is my resolver
only broken for one domain?  It doesn't work from two different
locations (with the same laptop).

Thanks

No, there just should not be a / after the name! Try:

        ping ubuntuforums.org

Hi,
For me all is ok:
$ ping -c 4 64.21.33.9
PING 64.21.33.9 (64.21.33.9) 56(84) bytes of data.
64 bytes from 64.21.33.9: icmp_seq=1 ttl=51 time=248 ms
[...]
4 packets transmitted, 4 received, 0% packet loss, time 3003ms
rtt min/avg/max/mdev = 224.958/235.620/248.604/8.506 ms
$
And now I can reach it in Firefox and with elinks too.
I can't say more.
Greetings, Joyce Markoll.

Hello,
Today it seems to me that the forums are really down  ?

=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
$ host ubuntuforums.org
ubuntuforums.org has address 64.21.33.9
ubuntuforums.org mail is handled by 10 mail.ubuntuforums.org.
joyce@papillon:~$ ping -c 4 64.21.33.9
PING 64.21.33.9 (64.21.33.9) 56(84) bytes of data.

--- 64.21.33.9 ping statistics ---
4 packets transmitted, 0 received, 100% packet loss, time 2999ms

$

=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

Can someone confirm ? also I'd need a reminder, how many people now
on the Ubuntu forums ? (forums and list... )
Thanks, best greetings, Joyce Markoll.
