=== Artful Aardvark Beta 1 Released! ===
Martin Wimpress announces the availability of the first beta of Artful Aardvark, which will become Ubuntu 17.10. This milestone includes images for Kubuntu, Lubuntu, Ubuntu Budgie,
Ubuntu Kylin, Ubuntu MATE, Ubuntu Studio, and Xubuntu. They include warnings for those unfamiliar with beta releases, with links for getting images or more details, before giving a big thank you to the developers and testers for their help in making this beta happen.
Interested in the Flavors? Beta 1 release announcements for each as follows:
=== Robie Basak: More on the imported repositories ===
Robie Basak from the Ubuntu Server Team writes more about the new Ubuntu Git workflow that the Server Team is working on for Ubuntu packaging. He goes into detail about how the tool will get information from Launchpad, the "Single source of truth" for packages, the Git branches and tags that will be available for developers to use (and how they relate to the different pockets of Ubuntu), and how they relate to existing tools such as git-buildpackage (in respect to the pristine-tar branch).
=== Didier Roche: Ubuntu GNOME Shell in Artful (Continued) ===
Didier Roche of Canonical in a series of daily blog posts describes the process of making Ubuntu GNOME Shell ready for Artful Aardvark 17.10. The desired result contains both a default Ubuntu session experience avoiding any shock for those updating from Unity 7, and the choice of a more generic GNOME session.
Sergio Schvezov from the Snapcraft Team writes about his experience going to UbuCon Latin America (LA) 2017. He writes about the experience, the food, the talks he and others gave, and wraps up the blog post by writing, "This event was interesting, a special thanks to Jose Antonio for putting this together!"
Colin Watson from the Launchpad Team writes about some recent challenges he has faced while getting Snaps to work properly on Launchpad. He talks about getting the builders to work with LXD, and provides the code he used to get it working.
