Lucasz Zemczak of the Ubuntu Foundations Team informs us that due to the recently discovered and fixed apt vulnerability, new ISOs have been generated -  16.04.6, and testing of them is requested. The estimated release date is set for February 28, 2019.

The Kubuntu Team announces the first bugfix release to Plasma 5.15, 5.15.1. Available in the backports PPA for Cosmic 18.10; install directions are provided as well as links to the release announcement and changelog. Additionally, there is also an update to KDE Frameworks 5.54.

=== It's Still Undecided Whether Ubuntu 20.04 LTS Will Support 32-bit x86 (i386) ===

Michael Larabel reminds us that Ubuntu dropped the x86 installer image back in 17.10, with flavors dropping the image too over the last year with Xubuntu and Lubuntu being the last. Michael writes that even the idea of x86 ports are now in discussion for Ubuntu 20.04 being started by Canonical's Steve Langasek, with decisions expected middle of 2019.

=== Mesa 19.0-RC5 Released As The Cycle Drags Into Overtime ===

Michael Larabel updates us on the Mesa 19.0 blocker bugs that have delayed it from release, telling us a RC6 is now also expected this week, and with luck the Mesa 19.0 full release a few days later if all goes well. Links and details are provided.

=== Unexpected Ubuntu 16.04.6 LTS Coming Due To APT Security Issue ===

Michael Larabel reports that due to the recent APT vulnerability, Canonical will issue an Ubuntu 16.04.6 update. The vulnerability is a man-in-the-middle exposure. The release candidate is out now for testing and once validated the update will be available through normal updates.
