non iPod USB device

Alligator
I'm using Breezy with Gnome, new upgrade from Warty, pmount and usbmount
installed.  I do < tail -f /var/log/messages > with the intention of
getting the device name, but all that is displayed is
usb 1-2  ohci_hcd address 6

The device I'm using ia LG mp3 encoder player
and I simply want to download music to this.
Help would be appreciated. Thanks
Ron

When you plug it in, doesn't an icon show up on your desktop for the USB device?
