openssh-server for 18.04 LTS

ubuntu-users mailing list
Hi

I have a new ubuntu 18.04 VM on a locked down network.  I am not able to find the openssh-server package.  Apt-cache search only sees openssh-client.   I don’t have access to a lot of the default repos yet.  I’m working with the network team to get things opened up a bit.  Can someone point me to a repo where I can get openssh-server?

Thanks

Cathy

I've always been able to add openssh-server on a fresh install without adding any repos. Just: sudo apt install openssh-server.

There was a problem with a repo a few days ago, but dont know if its related.

Yes, openssh-server is in the main, security, and updates repos:

grep: /var/lib/apt/lists/lock: Permission denied

(Yes, I have a local mirror.)

As others have said, it's in the default repositories.  A fresh VM may
not have very complete indexes though; you may need to run "sudo apt
update" before you see most things you haven't installed yet.
