"Powered by Ubuntu" stickers

Tonyo Cruz
Mga kapwa Ubuntu users,

Gusto ko sana malagyan ng "Powered by Ubuntu" stickers itong laptop ko.

Parang ganito --
http://static.flickr.com/43/124016526_cae3b93732_o.jpg or
http://www.mattwoodward.com/images/ubuntu_sticker_thumb.jpg -- at
siguro ganun din yung iba sa atin.

Nagbibigay nito ng libre ang System sa US, Canada at ilan pang bansa
pero wala ang Pinas sa listahan. Magnanakaw daw kasi ang Presidente at
maka-Microsoft pa.

Meron kaya nito dito sa Pinas, libre man o kailangang bilhin?

Salamat at mabuhay kayong lahat!

I've also been trying to get 1 of these stickers. It's way better than having the windows sticker. :D

Re: "Powered by Ubuntu" stickers

Allan E. Registos
I'm a graphic artist, so it is easy for me to do the drawing. To create the real sticker involves cost, a printing press can easily do the job, but we have to pay. I think canonical would give us permission to use their logos.

Re: "Powered by Ubuntu" stickers

My suggestion is convert your Ubuntu to look like a Mac, install Mac themes and Beryl to behave like the animation effects found in MacOSx. If this will not work, buy a real OSX, and go to auction.ph.
My humble opinion... :)

Also, few months ago, I installed successfully the Mac-Intel modified image of OS X tiger 10.4. It is so wonderful to run Mac on your Intel P4 computer. I will not recommend you do this since it is illegal to install Mac OSX on your Intel PC if you do not own a Mac and if you are not a Mac developer.

Ahh, but once you've used a Mac, you'll want to stick to it. It's
pretty organic. I use a Macbook at work and it's great if you require
a functional system.

Heh, I still don't get this theming stuff, the GNOME desktop (or KDE)
has enough bling to satisfy me while not using OSX.

That's right, not to mention that you will most likely go over the
trouble of looking for drivers for stuff that won't work in your
machine. The reason why Mac hardware is a joy to use and tinker with
is that you know that you have a defined set of everything - from the
hardware to the software making it easier to focus on what you would
like to do. Sure its the perfect example of a closed environment, from
hardware to software (well not really, the XNU kernel *is* open
source), but the integration is quite good that some say its the
perfect hardware for Windows hehe...

I agree with Jerome. I dont want to disgrace my linux by making it a clone of an inferior MAC OS X.
My wife likes OS X, and thats it...she doesnt want anything else...end of the story. no matter how efficient Linux is...She has been blinded by her love.

I have already had a lot of problems with Vista...and then getting all peripherals running in Ubuntu. I dont want to waste another month or so making MacBook out of my lovely HP Dv2000.

I am hoping i will get a buyer and i can buy her a macbook...till then...she has no choice but to like Ubuntu :)

And I will, again, echo the sentiments of the rest regarding OSX. You can theme Linux to make it look like OSX but at the end of the day, it doesn't come close to the real thing - and you may end up with a potential user hating Linux because they're expecting something else.

I love the way they've integrated OSX but I chose to use Ubuntu (and dabbles with Windows). OSX can only show what Linux has yet to become.

I agree with Jerome. I dont want to disgrace my linux by making it a clone of an inferior MAC OS X.

It isn't a clone, its the theming stuff. There is no MAC API compatibility layer when installing mac themes.. heheheh :)
I'm Joking...

I have already had a lot of problems with Vista...

Of course, problems are expected with a beta released. I think it's alpha anyway. We have to wait for service packs or get back to WinXP.

My elder sis in the US bought a dell Ubuntu. She return it later because it has no modem support(our mistake for not checking that only laptop supports built-in modem). She already love the concept of _free_ software. I already preach to her the free software basic concepts. Now, I recommended that sheed will have to buy Windows Vista laptop, because she needs a laptop with a TV tuner card, and Dell's Ubuntu Linux offers no support for TV tuner cards. :( It is a reality, as of today, we still have to choose Windows not because it is better, but because Hardware manufacturers doesn't support drivers for Linux.

Heh, I still don't get this theming stuff, the GNOME desktop (or KDE)
has enough bling to satisfy me while not using OSX.

I will not recommend you do this since it is illegal to install Mac OSX on your Intel PC if you do not own a Mac and if you are not a Mac developer.

Thats a great idea...but i am sure you can use TV tuner cards with Dell via USB....in fact it doesnt matter if its HP or Dell...or anything....

You can use USB TV Tuner Cards and I am sure there's support for that in the community.

Google it and see...i already have a lot of users using TV Tuner with Ubuntu USB

Nice tips.  There are of course T.V. cards supported under Linux. But my sister is not a techie and I'm here in the Philippines, so my help is limited. Of course, I can provide her with phone and IM support, but in case if things doesn't work, I will be in trouble with her husband. So the easiest thing to do for me was to let her buy the inferior and DRM infested Vista. I have no choice. As in my case here, I have no choice but dual-boot Linux and WinXP.
